If you are an entrepreneur, you have had a company and a logo design for a long time or you are planning to start it, sooner or later you face the need to advertise your business. You can advertise in various ways - from traditional and slightly outdated printed materials, through advertisements in trade magazines, radio and television advertisements, in social media, to sponsored advertisements, on websites, and in applications. Regardless of the form of advertising you choose, you will need to present your business in a way that will allow customers to remember you and make a purchase. If you want to know how to do it, I invite you to read this article.
Logo design - fad or must?
Imagine that you are advertising your company on the Internet. You write your name, description of your services, and contact information. How will you interest customers? How will your ad stand out from other similarly advertised brands? The answer is the visual message. As humans, we communicate verbally and non-verbally. We unconsciously receive more information than just verbal messages. Colors, forms, shapes, symbols - all this is intended to convey information on a different level than usual verbal/textual communication. For this reason, the logo design and the entire visual identity of the company, i.e. all customer contact materials, are crucial for the information provided to customers to be consistent, interesting, eye-catching, and encouraging them to choose your company over the competition.
5 steps to a professional logo for your company.
- First of all, a professional logo design must be user-friendly. It is necessary to ensure that the design does not evoke unfavorable associations for the company and that it does not contain symbols that may in any way affect the negative or undesirable perception of the brand.
- The second thing is to match the personality of the brand. It is good to choose a style that will suit the company, its values, character, and message. To illustrate this example, we will choose a different logo design style for a brand related to clothing for young people, another for organic food, another for a restored manor house, and a completely different one for an application.
- The third thing is to maintain a perfect balance between the inscription and the logo in the company logo. Empty space, appropriate spacing between letters and symbols, and appropriately selected line thicknesses are important.
- Fourthly, the color palette in the logotype should match the brand - tone it down or enliven it, add energy to it. A properly selected color palette will be the leitmotif of the entire visual identity and each advertisement.
- Fifth, use fonts that are legible, easy to read, and in a color that stands out on the page. Fonts made to order, personalized for a given brand, original and unique, also look very good. However, the most important criterion in the selection of a font for a logo design, apart from originality, should always be legibility.
The most important rule of logo design is that most designers do not take this into account.
Do you know what is the most important rule in logo design? The fact that the customer knows his company best. Simple? Yes, it seems trivial, but most people do not take it into account. To design a good logo for a company, you need to take into account the customer's preferences every time. The customer survey must be designed in such a way as to reach the conscious and unconscious needs and preferences of the customer. And if, after presenting the concept of the logo, the client has comments, something does not agree with or does not suit him, then each time the designer should adjust the logo design to the client's needs. Of course, you should not compromise here when it comes to the aesthetics and symbolism of the project, but adjust it to the customer's needs in a way that will be most beneficial for the visual presentation of the brand.
