Samsung Expects Foldable Smartphones To Be More Popular Than Regular High-End Smartphones By 2025
Samsung sees a bright future for foldable smartphones. The South Korean manufacturer expects to sell more foldable devices in the high-end sector in 2025 than regular flagship smartphones.
Samsung announced its latest foldable smartphones last week. Samsung's foldable smartphones are becoming increasingly popular, but devices such as the Galaxy S22 are still sold many times more often. This is partly because foldable smartphones are still very expensive and are still a lot less robust than regular smartphones. Nevertheless, we see that the popularity of foldable smartphones has increased rapidly in recent years and Samsung expects this trend to continue in the coming years.
CEO Roh Tae-moon told a press conference that Samsung expects to sell more foldable smartphones in the high-end segment in 2025 than regular devices. To make this statement come true, Samsung has to sell a lot more foldable smartphones in the coming years. The Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Z Flip 3 were sold about 7.1 million times last year, while the Galaxy S21 series sold between 20 and 25 million times.
