Hideaki Itsuno teases a new game. For those who don't know: Itsuno is a director and designer at Capcom and is responsible for sponsoring the Devil Could Weep And Dragon Teaching. He also has series like Power Stone, StreetFighter, and Dark Stalker. While not as well known as some of the greatest video game directors and developers in Japan like Hideo Kojima and Hidetaka Miyazaki, he is a prominent figure in the industry and well on the way to a prestigious position. Suffice it to say, when he teases a new game, many pay special attention to the fact that the devil might cry and dragon teaching fans.
Itsuno posted an end-of-year update on Twitter and wished everyone a Happy New Year. Itsuno points out that “the next project definitely precedes the last year”, meaning that it has made progress. Itsuno also asks his fans to “please look forward to it”.
Unfortunately, Itsuno didn't say what this project is. According to various rumours, it is a long-awaited sequel to Dragon Teaching, which makes sense as the IP is going to deal with the Netflix anime. Given the success of Devil May Cry 5, Itsuno's newest game, Devil May Cry 6, it shouldn't be ruled out either. The obscure game could of course be a new IP address or a return to one of the above IP addresses, but these two possibilities seem unlikely.
As always, we will keep you up to date. At the moment it is not known when this game will be released. It could be in 2022, but nothing in the tweet above suggests that much.
