The Alienware X14
Alienware We Don't Let Rivals Mini Gaming Laptops You Go Unanswered. With the X14, the brand has introduced the thinnest gaming notebook (and Dell) to date. The 14-inch design uses a speculative dual gyro element hinge and cooling upgrades to keep the design 0.57-inch thick while utilizing high-performance components, including a 12th generation Intel Core i7 processor, 14th generation Cores and up to GeForce RTX 3060 graphics. It has even been described as the first 14-inch laptop to support both NVIDIA's G-Sync technology and the advanced Optimus graphics switching.
The 144Hz 1080p screen isn't great in itself, but all X14 models support Dolby Vision HDR. There's a healthy expansion going on too. You can configure the X14 with up to 32 GB DDR5 memory (welded) and 2 TB SSD storage. The connection between the two Thunderbolt 4 ports, USB-C, USB-A, HDMI 2.1 and a microSD card slot won't hurt you.
The Alienware X14 will ship sometime this winter with a starting price of $ 1,799. The basic version gives you 16 GB of RAM, RTX 3050 video and 256 GB of storage.
There are tradeoffs when packing these devices into a laptop that is slimmer than many Ultra HD phones. We spent some time with the Alienware X14 and found the keyboard to be particularly cramped - including the WASD configuration you'll likely use on first-person shooters. Because of the internal components, it's a solid and relatively lightweight device (no more than 4.06 pounds). However, it is worth considering if you are looking for gaming equipment that will easily fit in your backpack.
